The Avocado Zest is delicious. It has a fresh, lemon taste.  I drizzle it on my salads. I recommend it to anyone who wants a high quality oil with a hint of citrus for salads and fish.

Product Review: Olivado Avocado Oil

Oil is one of the basics of cooking, we use it in almost everything from; frying to baking, cooking to salad dressings. It can add so much flavour and make sure nothing sticks to your pan. I generally use Extra Virgin Olive Oil at home for a flavourful dressing or to create some Greek inspired dishes. As a creature of habit I haven’t really experimented with other oils.

Here at Occasions we received a couple of bottles of Olivado Avocado Oil and decided it was high time to take the plunge into the unknown world of new Oils.

The first dish I made was a Lemon Garlic Shrimp Pasta.

I put a generous amount of the Lemon Zest Avocado Oil into a pan over medium heat, added 1 clove of minced garlic some thawed peeled shrimp,a small amount of green onions and a splash of lemon juice – tossing /stirring occasionally. Once the shrimp was thoroughly cooked I added some cooked spaghetti and tossed in the pan adding a little extra oil to coat the noodles. Putting my meal into a pasta bowl I added some parmesan cheese and fresh green onions on top. Beautiful: Now Lets Eat!

The Avocado Oil was delicious, you could really taste the flavours. It has a smoother flavour than the Extra Virgin Olive Oil. It almost seemed to melt onto my tongue. YUM

I had to try this in something else. I eat a lot of salads and normally make my own vinaigrettes, so I wanted to see how the flavour lent itself to a little vegetation.

I created my usual dressing but substituted the Olive oil for Avocado – This time using the cold pressed Avocado oil. I used avocado oil, garlic, oregano, a pinch of sugar and white balsamic vinegar with a splash of lemon juice. The dressing was a deep green colour, not very appetising visually but I had come this far… I prepared my salad with Romain lettuce, sweet peppers, green onions, carrot, celery, tomato and cucumber with some Feta cheese on top.

I poured the dressing on and gave it a try. It was pretty good. The flavour of the avocado was a lot stronger than I had expected but was still very tasty. By the time I had finished my meal I had fallen in love with the avocado oil.

All in all the Olivado Avocado Oil adds a new twist on old favourites. I would recommend that you try this stuff out!
